There was wide spread protest on Tuesday in Owerri as party supporters and youth groups protested for various claims sequel to the Imo Guber results declared inconclusive by INEC.

At warehouse roundabout, supporters of Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho were seen protesting. They were carrying placards some of which read ‘We demand total cancellation of Imo results’, ‘Capt Iheanacho we know’…

Just opposite their camp at same roundabout (at the outskirt of Imo International Convention Centre), a coalition of Imo youth groups gathered for their own counter, massive protest. They later marched to Wetheral roundabout where they blocked the roads, chanting war songs, demanding that INEC should declare Owelle Rochas Okorocha the winner of April 11th guber elections. The spokes man for the youth groups, Jeff Onuoha threatened that the youths will shut down the state if INEC fails to declare their candidate, Owelle as winner. He pointed the case of Rivers and Akwa Ibom which recorded high cases of violence and manipulation and INEC went ahead to declare the results, wondering why the case of Imo will be different.

The governor who had earlier made a state broadcast in Orient FM, appeared on the gallery top of the government house gate to address the protesting youths. He urged them to lay low and allow INEC to come up with a decision of either declaring him winner or conducting a supplementary election in the troubled areas. The governor stated that, should there be a supplementary election, he will set aside his 79,000 lead and go into the election with all his arsenal to finally humble his opponents. He recalled that INEC had in 2011 declared election inconclusive and he went on to win with landslide, predicting that any supplementary election will even accord him more popularity and uniqueness as the President-elect, APC governors and party leaders will be in Imo to witness the election. Thus making his victory unique. He appealed to the youths to remain calm but warned that any politician and miscreant that breaches the peace and security in the state will be brought to book.

Earlier on Monday, some group of people also protested and demanded that PDP candidate be declared winner of the polls.
