The court of Appeal in Imo state last week upheld the decision of the state election petition tribunal to dismiss the petition filed by PDP governorship candidate in the 2015 elections, Chief Emeka Ihedioha.
According to a report on Nigeria Newspoint, Ihedioha headed to the Court of Appeal after his petition against the victory of Governor Rochas Okorocha in the 2015 governorship election at the governorship election petition tribunal was struck out.
However, in a judgment delivered last week in Owerri, the appellate court also dismissed the PDP candidate’s petition for lack of merit. The Governor commended the Appeal for being objective in the discharge of their duties and increasing the confidence of the people in the judiciary. He appealed to his contender, Chief Emeka Ihedioha to let go of further litigation. He made the appeal through a press statement delivered by his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemedo.
Not deterred by the appeal, Emeka Ihedioha has disclosed his intentions to head to the supreme court because he is certain he won in the April 2015 governorship elections in the state.
