The traffic lights have been restored in some areas of Owerri for some weeks now and Imolites both within and outside the state have been reacting to it. It is working at the Government House roundabout where the state library was formerly located before it was moved to a permanent locationIt is also working at the popular Warehouse junction and Cherubim junction. I think the one at Garden Park is also working.

A tricycle operator thinks it is helping out with the traffic situation as people (who choose to be civilized) know what to do at any point in time.

Here is what others are saying about it:

Chima (Owerri) – This light is useless! This one here (Government House roundabout, coming from Cherubim junction) is not even showing which line of traffic to pass. It’s just counting up and down.

Michael (Owerri) – Are they actually working accordingly? It signaled to “Go” on Monday, I obeyed and another vehicle rushed out from my left side, hmmn we nearly kissed oo, wanted to scold at him but on a second thought I realized this is NIGERIA, IMO STATE precisely, & the kind Governor that we are {blessed/cursed}”choose abeg} with, I smiled and continued.IMG_0495

Chimee (Owerri) – In Owerri, people don’t know what a traffic light is. When it’s green, they wait. When it’s red, they move.

Gerald (Calabar) – The use of the traffic lights in Owerri is a mockery. No adherence, zero enforcement

Godswill (Owerri) – Traffic lights are back in Owerri but their use aren’t yet

Conrad (Port Harcourt) – Tell Rochas to do roads because traffic light can’t work when there are no roads…..please tell him
